I wanted to post in a new topic and write for it semi-regularly, about mythology and the study of mythology and magic. In particular I was thinking about a number of topic within it: philosophical concepts in magic, the mythology behind the magic wand, and the connection between magic and ancient fireside storytelling. I have a lot to say about topics like this, and I'm sure a lot of other people do too, so I was hoping that the management could find a place for it if there isn't already (I may have missed it looking through your enormous board.)
Thank you for your consideration. -Chris McCauley

If there isn't a place now that deals specifically with this topic, is there a place I could post about it appropriately? What I mean is, is there a specific topic or section preexisting that I could post it in? Maybe in one of the misc. sections? Or should I hold off writing about it completely for now?

I posted it under "not very magical but.........."
I hope this is okay! And I promise to try and keep the topic off religion! :)

Isn't today's religion tomorrow's mythology? It would be interesting to note mythological symbols, how they are used in magic today and how their use may even be influenced by religion today. Why ignore current religious ideals when discussing mythology in magic? For instance, the change bag has it's origins as an offering bag in the catholic church. From what I understand, the bag was altered by crooked priests (imagine that) to steal money. Or, other feats of miracles, like water to wine. As best represented with Steinmeyer's Hospitality. Or, the use of illusions in the Easter Passion Plays (I've done consulting for a large church in my town for making Jesus walk on water - they actually HAD a pool built for this! - and spirits vanishing/appearing, etc.) Just a thought.

Discussions involving religion are not allowed. Here's the rule
Quote: Though we do have an area for discussing subjects other than magic, the discussing of Religion (other then a real application as it relates to a magical effect Example: Gospel Magic) is strictly Prohibited. The subject is simply too subjective, and more often then not leads to emotional responses and a lot of hurt feelings and/or resentment.
