Richard,

Before Walter passed away I had a chance to be sponsered by him into the IBM. I also has a chance to study his lecture notes and video footage. He resided in Utica, NY and his sister still lives here and helps Ring 101 give out the Annual Walter Cummings award. He is our magic claim to fame!

I too am cursed with sweaty palms.

I found that a “bowlers grip” cream worked well to a point, it created a film on my hands great for gripping at first but then the sweat would seep through and sit on top of the film and balls…ahhh…
I was working at a Casino in Cairns Australia through the wet season, the stage area was not very well air conditioned so the Humidity extremely high, just walking out of the dressing room onto the stage the air would condense on your hands and they would be covered in water!
Eventually I had a fan blowing air over me and my hands, this worked a treat.

I have always used home made wooden balls, perhaps because when I started working on a routine I couldn’t get the Fakini Balls but I also didn’t like the idea of the balls bouncing if they dropped, I wanted them to be solid - like Billiard Balls.

I now still use my wooden balls (they cost me 60 cents each!) And I have taken a tip from Tommy Wonders book of adding sand or a non slip paint additive and cover the balls with that…. No more slips, they want to be palmed… problem fixed (for me anyway)
Hope this helps.

This may have already been mentioned, but a good little trick is to keep some of those cardboard coasters around. the type you get at chili's and outback steak house. Just rub them in your hands for a minute. they are quite absorbent and can help cure sweaty hand syndrome in a fix.
