Perhaps it's stupid but I'm too excited not to post this (and I don't get excited much), I finally got a 1-2" muscle pass for the first time just a minute ago! I don't know exactly how I did it because I haven't been able to duplicate it yet but anyone who has read my posts in here knows that I figured coin magic was impossible for me do to my sweaty hands...
And on that note my interesting idea. To solve that problem I don't precisely do coin magic, I use poker chips. They are obviously lighter, the plastic doesn't get as slick as metal when sweaty and the grooves help me to grip them better (ie for classic palm) I don't know that I can do much classic effects of coin magic but I've been toying with doing some manipulation type stuff and color changes. The final plus for poker chips is you can buy them by the hundreds cheap Anyway I just couldn't help myself, maybe if anyone out there has done some poker chip type effects they could share them otherwise thanks for reading my blurb. -Dan |

Classic stuff does include manipulation, flourishes and color change.
Poker Chips make great props due to the many colors. Red, White, blue, black. Casinos would probably love you walking out with a few black ones. When I worked out of Reno I had some E.S. and C/S speciality coins made up. You can do the M.P. with things besides coins. I use a flat rock that a friend brought back from the east coast. Keep at it and you will be able to get more distance. Be sure not to move your hand and let the muscle do the work. When I started out I thought my hands were too small. They weren't. Let us know of your progress. Harris

Poker Chip Magic is a great idea. It seems to me I have seen a "hoping half" with a gaffed set of poker chips.
This might be something to look into! Bascomb

You mention manipulation. If you're talking about stage stuff, try to get a copy of Richard Kaufman's early, early book "The interlocked production of coins" wherein he discusses certain productions fromt he interlocked position that can only be done with Poker chips.
