Hi,
This is something I have been thinking about doing for a while I am changing my current act and have included some budgies and what I was thinking was this. To go into my billiard ball routine I could A. produce a budgie toss it into the air and it turns into a white ball I go into my routine then do a color change and turn the ball yellow, then take away the ball in a silk and it changes into a budgie. Or option B. is I produce a Budgie and it "Lays" an egg I then do a multypling egg routine, just like the balls but with eggs. I then rap the egg in a silk and "Incubate" it and then a budgie crawls out. I think they are both very strong but I was wondering what all you guys think. Best, Luke

I vote for the eggs. It's more unusual and quirky, and has a bit of a storyline to it. It makes more sense having eggs with birds.

Yes I agree with philblackmore
but also what is the rest of your show like if you do a billiad or snooker routine in your other parts of the show then use the balls. but without any further info use the eggs. |

Your real answer may come when you put it together, practice, rehearse and share it with live audiences.

Ok this may seem wird but I am gonna ask it anyways. The ones who know me will know where I am going with this so stay with me as this does serve a purpose.
My question to you is one word: WHY!!!!! Told you it was weird. But it means a lot. WHY do what you are doing? What is the purpose? What is your character on stage and how is the audience to see this character? What is your style? Music? Theme? All these are more much more important then the effects you do or the sequence you put them in. Study the answers to the above questiosn first and THEN work the magic around it. By doing this, you open yourself up to much better creative potential. Trust me on this. =) Kyle

One way to explore the "why, what, style, music, theme..... is to use the book called The Artist Way.
Julia Cameron guides you through writing assignments and sends you on artistic outings. It is not specifically written for magicians. It is for getting to know you and your art. (theatre, paint, sculpture....) Anyone else out there in manipulation land use this besides this nearly normal guy? Be safe and creative. Happy HOYC. Harris

Harris:
As I am an artist, I have many times used my artistic talents and brought them into my magic. This has helped me to learn to think more creatively in the acts and routines I present. Kyle
