I think something you should realy seriously look into is cold reading and muscle reading. Neither is for beginers by any means, nor will you have an easy go of it in the begining. However this being said, you want something that looks like the real thing without any props, those would be it. Myself I do more psychokinetic effects, but that's me. I find metal bending is a very good way to look like the real thing, but I'm not sure if you consider a fork or a spoon an "unusual" prop. Everyone so far has recomended Corinda and Annemen, and so do I, however you should look into the other things I've mentioned.

Arrogance is unfortunately built into some magicians. We try our best to help though.

How's Kenton's "Wonder Words" series? Is it worth the money?
Any good material on Cold Reading that you'd suggest MetalBender? Also, I happen to agree with you, metal bending is a fine example of "the real thing". No, I wouldn't say a spoon or a fork is an odd object at all. People use them on a daily basis, usually three or more times a day, so they are familiar to them. Not everyone uses a deck of cards daily. Although they are familiar with cards, I believe there minds could relate better to objects they use, literally, all the time. Unless, of course, they're a "finger-food person". In this case, try some mentalism with a chicken tender. Thank you all, again, so much. I've decided that I would like to stick with close-up magic, but incorporate some mentalism into the mix as well. Keep posting anything else you'd like to leave me with. Thanks again! - Next One last question folks. Let's say I was interested in strictly "psychological magic and mentalism". What material(s) give the perfect, basic starting point regarding that aspect? Does Corinda's "13 Steps" contain the basics on this matter? You've been suggesting it so I just thought I'd ask. So where do I start regarding psychological magic and mentalism? Thanks again, in advance. - Next |
