Hi All,

I thought that this might be of interest to anyone who performs for events…

The event industry is likely the first industry that a budding magician or illusionist will find work in. Unless born into an entertainer’s family, it is unlikely that your first show experiences will come from theatre shows, cruises or casino showrooms. Probably, your first one hundred shows will come from events. For 80% of the professional, semi-professional and amateur magicians in the world, all of their work is from events of all kinds.

Performing illusions in events takes a different skill set than performing in a formal performance venue. Choosing the right illusion that can be staged effectively at an event setting must also be done so with careful thought and planning.

Here is a non-exhaustive list of self-contained illusions and illusionettes that will fulfill the requirements of what I dub ‘The Event Illusionist’. Most of the illusions are available from major magic dealers, authorized illusion builders or the respective creators of the illusions.

Thanks JC. I will try to get my wife to get your books for me for Christmas but if not I will get them after the first of the year. When will you have your simplex car appearance up in the backstage section? I'm very interested in it, anything you could share in a PM would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

JC - You missed the Harbon/McComb "Magician's Revenge." They sold the rights to Kovari who manufactured (and improved a little) this original type of upright blade box.

I use it with one assistent and 3-4 volunteers on stage handloing the blades and witnessing. 8-9 minutes.
