nice subject. I work as a music video/childrens-program director. Just like magic, only entertaining with images instead of cards, ect. I LOVE my work. I learned a lot from my magic and the other way around. YEAH!!

I'm a medicine student in Brazil. I really enjoy the idea of making magic tricks to young kids in hospitals.

I am a Correctional Officer. I just do magic as a hobby but am trying to use it to help make some money or at least pay for itself. As far as work, if I were inclined to do magic for them (which I am not) then I would have a CAPTIVE audience wouldn't I.

I'm a student working towards some nebulous career goal that will provide me with a six figure income and will involve my magic in some way. Still have yet to nail down a few details.

Been dabbling in magic with varying intensity for 26 years now. In the past three years, I have been increasingly motivated by my twin sons' growing appreciation of my hobby. |

I've never had a real job. I've cut grass lots of times, but never got paid. I've tried to help my grandpa at his auto shop, but because of family conflicts . . . that didn't work out. Every job idea I've had, my parents don't like. They tell me I'm destined to be great and won't let me take the first baby steps. So that's the story of my life. I'd do magic for a living in a heartbeat if I was good enough and a little more fun to be around, but . . . dream on . . .

I used to be a phone *****. Then I quit cause my job was making me hate all people on sight and lead me to believe that anybody who couldn't reinstall a modem was a moron. Now that I've quit I think that people who can install modems are morons too.

My real day-time job in addition to magic and illusion/prop building is with a large internet company as VIP account manager (VIP as in clients, not me)
Originally, I am a registered operating room nurse specialized in abdominal surgery-a job impossible these days due to allergies.

I have, at least according to some people, an interesting job. I am an aircraft inspector in Phila., Pa.
Talk about long periods of boredom broken up by briefs bouts with panic. I get to tell pilots their airplane is safe to fly. When they hear I do magic as well as inspect airplanes, boy you should see the looks I get then.

I'm a table games supervisor in a large casino in California. I escaped Los Angeles 17 years ago and moved to Las Vegas and became a Dice and 21 dealer. The crazy part, is that when I moved to Vegas, I pretty much dropped out of the magic community. I didn't think it would be cool if my employers knew I was into magic. As many of you know, most cheating moves that can occur in casino games are basically our standard stock and trade. The biggest casino scams are usually done by employees, rather than people from the outside.
Palming, swithching, marking, and lapping are just a few examples that come to mind. Misdirection is also widely used. Many of the experts and advisors to casinos on cheating have a magic background. As a matter of fact, The Gambler's Bookshop, and The Gambler's General Store in Las Vegas, both stock a number of our favorite magic books! I didn't want to be seen practicing a French drop with a die on the craps table, or back-palming a card on a 21 game! Over the years I've worked my way through the ranks and have been a pit boss, shift manager, and dealing instructor. I left the business for a short time, and moved back to L.A. to work with my cousin who was directing a movie for 20th Century Fox. I wrote a bit more about my background in the New Arrivals forum titled "Welcome to my mid-life crisis..." Jeff
