In Gazzo's routine, the cups and balls seem quite secondary to what is going on.

Yah, but it is built around the cups. He just makes it an act instead of a trick. Same with Bob Read.

Of the versions that I have seen or have read I like Paul Daniels' chop cup routine, Tommy Wonder's 2 cup routine and bob Read's 3 cup routine, and of those the Bob Read one is my favorite.

Gazzo's routine is fantastic!!
My personal favorite, is the cups and balls routine by Paul Gertner utilizing steel ball bearings! The final loads are fantastic! |

If you are referring to "Runaround Sue," I would actually disagree. It's a clever idea, but I found the way the music was handled to be very annoying. I'd rather hear the music stop than to hear a sound that reminded me of a needle being dragged across the surface of a record or a record suddenly slowing down. That single factor made it difficult for me to watch the routine.

Understandable. It's still my favorite though. I loved the choreography and the milkshake at the end and the whole shebang. Just my opinion
That Galli Galli guy was also one of my favorites. The chicks were perfect. Sorry, I meant Luxor Gali-Gali. I guess now that you pointed out Gali's animal abuse on the other thread I will have to change my answer. Tim Ellis' Runaround Sue is still my favorite C&B, I really like P&T's version, though I know it's somewhat controversial. Dai Vernon is a master of course. Michael Ammar. Vernon and Ammar will always be legendary for their versions. Do they have to be living though? Because some of those guys aren't.

Other than that, I thought it was a clever routine; however, I worked as a musician for a long time, and there are certain sounds that really make my skin crawl. It may not bother other people, though.
