The Mauraders map is a map of the famous hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry which Harry gains possesion of in the the third book. This map is Charmed so that ink dots move around the map. Each dot is labled with someones name, which represents where that person is. How could you recreate this map? Not for a show, just how might it be possible in real life? My idea was to use a magnetic ink or thin metal circles (for the dots) and have a system of magnets on tracks underneath the map.

Easy way is to Magically Place a GPS Reciever/Transmitter on each individual with a unique individual code. Then they show up on your Laptop on you Map Program....Remember, someone once said (either Clarke or Heinlien) that, "Any advanced technology is indistinguishalbe (spelling??) from Magic!!!".....lol

Mini-GPS's....
Fascinating concept. Bet it'll be indistinguishable from 'real' magic.

Great idea. I just need to get a paper thin screen (which I believe is actually being created) and then implant mini GPS reciever/transmitters under everyones skins. You could do it...but it would be difficult to say the least.
Any other ideas?

I wondered about recreating the map for a show. One idea I had was to use Buddha papers method to show a blank piece of parchment, fold it up, recite the spell, and open it to show the map. Of course, nothing on the map would move. Any other ideas?
