I perform the C&B using the Penguin Cups, which are solid copper, nicely weighted cups. Penguin says they have no plans to make a chop cup to match this set, so I can't develop any combo routines...which I think would be very nice.

Is there any hope of finding a cup by another manufacturer that will match the cups I have?

I agree with Daegs. You could easily have someone cut a thin copper disk that would fit into the bottom of your cups. Glue a magnet to the disk and when you want to do a combo routine, just stick the disk into one of the cups with blue tack so the magnet is between the cup and the disk.

Thanks,

A lot of the more expensive cups aren't made in chop sets. It's easy enough to glue a magnet into the cup (it needn't be permanent), though you might have to experiment a bit in getting a magnet with the right strength so that you don't have to slam the cup down to dislodge the ball.

Worst case scenario - you get a new set that is chopped. Once you're adept at the various moves with your current set, it will be no big deal switching and you'll get used to the feel of the new set quickly. If you can get to a real live magic shop and try out a few chopped sets, you'll have a much better idea of what you want.

I love the cups I have. I'm going to see if I can set one up so the gaff won't dislodge when I want to make the ball appear. For the time being, my classic C&B routine still kills.

Last time I performed it, I heard expletives followed by apologies (children were present). I can't imagine a better feeling than that!

When you get a chop-cup that matches your C&B , check out the Mendoza C&B combo routine. The way it was designed and choreographed is a thing of thoughtful beauty.

Well, there is a gimmick that one can wear on one's finger that will turn ANY cup into a chop cup...

Start thinking outside the goblet! Smile

Thanks Lee. I never thought of that, but I know exactly what you mean. It's an interesting idea.

You are quite welcome. I have to treat ideas nicely when they happen to me, after all, they are entering a hostile environment - my head! Smile

Glad you liked the idea. I've used it on and off (both the ring- which is easier) and the TT methods over the years. of the two, the first is my weapon of choice when I'm not using an actual combo-cups set.
