All right, I am feeling a bit "out of the loop", and would like to try to get back in by buying a subscription to one of the many Magic Magazines out there. How much are subscriptions and which do you prefer?

If you like illusions, then every other month, Paul Osborne has a plan or article in Genii.
Magic Magazine is colorful and very enjoyable. I rate these two equal and if I was forced to make a choice, I probably would keep Magic Magazine. No...Genii....No Magic Mag....Oh such a decision, good thing I am not in a position to make a choice. Since I do entertain children, I find the Funny Paper the best of all three, however, it only comes out six times a year. This magazine is focused on children entertainment, a must get for children entertainers. MUM and Linking Ring come with your annual dues to SAM and IBM.

What would you like to know? The Café and Genii BBS are pretty good about news and products.

I can't choose between MAGIC Magazine and Genii, so I alternate!

As to Genii and MAGIC...
What do each specialize in? What about pros/cons of each. Like, does one do more close-up and the other does more cabaret/stage magic? What I guess I am asking is, what is the difference between the two?

I'd say in general, Genii is considered the "TIME" of the magic world, while MAGIC is considered to be the "People" of the magic world.

I've subscribed to MAGIC magazine for about 4 years. One year, I got a Genii subscription, too. Both magazines are great, but I definitely prefer MAGIC over Genii. I'm not sure why, but I dumped Genii after a year and pick it up every now and then at the magic shop.
Scott's right on in comparing the magazines. -Andy |
