Most of all tricks and illusions will end up for sale at some magic store one day or another.
What about the illusion performed by David Copperfield that involves him being cut in two and walk next to his body by holding his legs next to him. |

That illusion is called the Laser. David Copperfield bought it from Steve Fearson for a couple million. and he has the sole performing rights to it. I don't even think that Steve is allowed to perform it anymore so I really doubt you will be able to find it anytime soon. Obviously someone will eventually come out with a "similar" effect or an outright copy, but you can be sure they won't get too far with it as it does belong to Copperfield.
Besides, would you really want to shell out all the money that illusion costs? It's pretty expensive when you add up all the cost of the laser and the gimmicks you would have to use to do that effect.

Laser's don't cost all that much, the gimmick seems relatively simple and considering how "Scottish" David can act when it comes to spending money I doubt seriously SF got paid all that much and, as seems the norm, probably can't perform his "own trick" just as DC has prevented others from doing the same over the years.
Besides, if the thing ever went on the market everyone with a house that could be mortgaged would have it in their show and, like the Flying, Impaled, Interlude, Origami, Zig Zag... (I think you get the point)... EVERYONE AND HIS BROTHER WOULD HAVE IT! (and a good 95% of those that buy it, WONT DO IT RIGHT!) So, why fret over it? Design something that's just as cool, that's all your own and when he asks, tell DC he can't afford and smile (I actually saw the man nearly break down in tears one day, when he discovered Sigfred beat him on an exclusive... he don't do "No" well... ) Have fun!

Start by working on a really invisible, really silent pass. By the time that you master it, the Laser illusion will be for sale at Walmart.

Truthfully, the Laser Cutting pos will probably NEVER be on the market so long as Mr. Kotkin breaths (e.g. Copperfield)... if anyone other than DC ever performs the bit, it will probably be Kirby VanBirch due to "arrangements" he and David have with one another.

I've seen some videos on youtube of a couple guys doing it. One did it very poorly and the other was fantastic. Neither of them was DC.

I saw a guy doing it on you-tube. Looks like the one DC performed minus the $ for the stage setting. Very nice illusion, I wonder how it would look live.
