I am concerned that, at times, I may be focusing on More Gothic themes than bizarre. I do some effects with Vampie themes, Ancient Egytian themes as well as others along these lines. Is this concidered to be GOTHIC? what do you think. I am not a gothic although I enjoy trips on the darkerside sometimes....

First, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Second, to clairify a bit... Magic has been around a very long time, infact Ancient Egyptians had magicians, or better put, high priests. Early modern magic had such effects with names like The Sphinx (reminds me of a certian periodical) and magicians usually had some sort of "oriental" (Asian and/or Middle Eastern) theme in one trick or another. Bizarre magic has numerous routines that incorporate blood together with demonic forces and such. You don't need to be a practicing goth to be gothic. And one definition of Gothic from Websters is: often not capitalized : of or relating to a style of fiction characterized by the use of desolate or remote settings and macabre, mysterious, or violent incidents. So, I'd say that Bizarre Magic has always been gothic in nature. DA |

I was busily crafting a reply when Mr. Vanderbeck went for the same dictionary and beats me to the punch. When great minds think alike...

Vlad does some great stuff along this line though. Trust me, the whole Vampire connection isn't a bad thing. If you could lock in with "Sanctioned" groups and organize parties e.g. the visiting out of town Prince or something of said ilk... you can pull in some good bucks! You just need to plan ahead and have a good (small) crew of actors that can make it all happen e.g. deliver the fantasy of a real Masquerade encounter.
