You must be very new to this if you're asking if they are any good. If you're serious about mentalism, don't ask, just go get them and listen to every word.

Any chance of Mindgames coming to DVD? Does Universal still own it or did the rights revert back to Max at some point?

I started getting interested in mentalism after seeing this set. You will find that the routines are well thought of and the psychology and analysis of each would be a big help in understanding what mentalism is all about. good luck.

Maven's explainations are top-notch. I just got his book "Prism" which is re-release of the famed "Color Booklets" I've heard mentioned on here many times. This, too, is a great book! |

I'm sorry but I don't buy, that you should just purchase things because its got a name on it. I mean I doubt although I'm not sure, you would all buy clothes that all though looked unbleivably bad had Versace writtin in big bold letters on the front. I mean wether the product comes from an esteemed pro or not, you've got to remeber that these people also shovel out a lot of **** onto the market too.
The moral to this story...always check up on what you are buying, don't rely on the brand! Stay safe kids. lol
One day I will write a book

Wally,
The effect is called kurotsuke and has been discussed loads before on this site. It is a great routine. Merlin |

Wally,
Kurotsuke is a fantastic routine and, if presented right, can definitely play well with any size audience. Rick

Consider the proliferation of instructional DVDs - some shamelessly - thrusted into the market place over the past X years...what has Max put out? Just one series with L&L. ONE SERIES That hardly makes him a sh** shoveler. I for one would eagerly gobble up his releases because he's just THAT good. Additionally, if I didn't know he was that good, I wouldn't buy his videos...the NAMES on the label, in this case being L & L and/or Max Maven, are top notch. I don't think there are many people out there who could argue with that, Jordan. You are right, though...one should check up on what they buy, and that's what started this thread, right? Kaylan ;-) |

The videomind DVDs are worth 3x their weight in diamonds. There are quite a few GEMS in them: Kurotsuke, Autome, Mockingbird, to name only a few. I would rank the Videomind series (As well as other literature by Maven/Goldstein) on the MUST HAVE list with Anneman, Corinda, and Cassidy.

Really good stuff on this DVD set. Positive/Negative on volume #2 is good, but I prefer to use Jay Sankey's variation called "Invisble Coins".

There is no doubting the quality of material on these DVDs or Maven's enormous contribution to the literature of both card magic and mentalism.
However, whilst watching these DVDs I couldn't rid myself of the feeling that he was holding back on some of the tricks. Either that there is more to his personal performance of some of these effects or that they are items that he no longer performs. Again, I must stress I am referring to just some of the effects. There is nothing specific I can point to, it's just a general feeling overall. Anyone else feel this way? Nevertheless, the calibre of the majority of the material speaks for itself. Recommended. |

This set is great. Max Maven is a great teacher and any serious student of mentalism can really benefit from this set. You can read the reviews on some of the stuff presented here, like Positive/Negative or Kurotsuke. My brother, who saw Eugene Burger and Max Maven together, related them together as God and the Devil. Haha.. I just thought that was funny.
