If I am to choose 3 card effects for my personal amateur routine, what elemnts do you think would be appropriate?
I'm certainly going to have a Triumph effect. But I'm still wondering wwhat else I should be doing. |

Maybe do what you like?!?
How can we tell you what to do??? maybe think about your choices, think about different strategies, like audience involvement (except maybe for the opener) for example. Why don't you try many different combinations yourself and see what works for YOU! Please read my signature below... Ronnie Lemieux Montreal Canada

What do you (or WOULD you) like to see happen ?
Once you get that far, you just might want to look at the why of it too. Then voila, there you go, instant routine . The best part of making a routine is that its all you.

1) A four ace assembly/production
2) Twisting the Aces/Dr Daley's Last trick 3) Henry Christ's four ace routine for starters |

Find a thing to say to spark interest. Then find a trick that can be presented as the answer to that interesting thing.
Perhaps: "Did you know there are over one hundred different ways to find a selected card?" or "Would you like to see the worlds strangest card trick?" or "Do you believe it's possible to forcast the future with a deck of playing cards?" The real trick is to have something interesting to show them. Once you have a way to get them interested think of what would be a natural follow up to that idea. If you lead in with the "100 ways to find a card" idea you could show what you mean by doing the Henry Christ Ace trick, which "finds" the four aces. Since you have the aces out on the table at the end of that trick it might be nice to use them to find three SELECTED cards by doing The Collectors. Of course, you would begin by casually doing some shuffles and fancy cuts as you mention the many ways to find a selected card, and as you do, offhandedly produce the four aces. Since you happend to cut them, almost absentmindedly, while you were talking it makes sense to use them to demostrate what you mean about different ways to find cards. So a short routine: An ace production Henry Christ's Four Ace Trick The Collectors There are dozens of published handlings for each of these three effects. But don't stop there. Find something interesting to say and find tricks to match that. Don't focus on tricks. Focus on what the tricks ARE ABOUT... You'll get much better results if you find tricks to match your presentation than if you go the other way... best, bill |

Are you going to use any gaffed cards?
Are you willing to do deck switches? Are you going to do all 3 back to back? I like the advice above? If you are looking for a good triumph, Sankey's back in time is very good. |

First of all, I don't plan to use any gaff nor doing deck switches.
The triumph I've been working on is basically an in-the-air version of the stardard triumph handling with a kicker finale (brand new deck order).... By the way I need to mention that I love card effects that have surprising ending/kicker which the spectators would never have expected. |

I used to do a non-stop routine I called "Four Card Menagerie" with 4 selections using 4 different revelations:
Vernon's "Triumph" Fechter's "That's It!" Carlysle's "Homing Card" McBride's "Kundalini Rising" All underwent slight changes and I managed to keep the 4 selections under control for each effect. Each effect set me up for the next. It's been quite a while since I've done this and am still wondering where my notes went. I hope this helps. Good Luck, |
