Dan Harlan's Ultmate Impromptu Magic videos run the range of real easy to mildly difficult. Plus, Starcle is included on one of the tapes. It is by far the most impressive thing you can do with a cocktail napkin. And coincidently, I have these videos posted for sale in dvd/video section of this site for $25.

If you want to pick something Dan Harland-ish out there, I'd go for his rubberband set. Some of the effects are useless but most are great stuff you'll want to learn if you want to deal with impromptu magic.

Jawdroppers is undreated. I wasn't too pleased when they were on adverstised on TV, but they are quite good. He edited Mark Wilson's big magic book. He's been behind the scenes for quite awhile.

Greg Wilson's On The Spot is probably your best buy.

On the spot is fantastic. Too bad it's sold only by Penquin now. So what's the connection between the quality of magic on Wilson's DVD and the fact that the distributer has changed? |

Ammar's "Icebrakers", believe it or not, has a few gems that have worked consistently for me. Although you might percieve it to be a "beginner's video", it does contain a wealth of basic psychology, demo scenarios, and entertaining information.

I have "on the spot" and think it is very good for on-the-street-with-the-people style and that will do a lot for anyone looking to build confidence for any setting.

Another good DVD for impromptu magic, believe it or not is the Slydini DVD "As I recall..."
ideas with sponge balls, t/r napkin, cigarettes, etc. I love that DVD. I've also seen a Mullica DVD since then and was laughing my @ss off. the "bean" trick is hilarious. I've done it. It's disgusting. It's a must.

4 top dvds in order of merit in my opinion (3 or possibly all 4 in my list have been mentioned already I know! See also the extra two cited below)
On the spot, G Wilson Any time, any where, Sankey Dinner Table Magic, Worlds Greatest Magic Magic with Everday Objects, Worlds Greatest Magic There's loads of great stuff you can use on the following two dvds as well that are mostly impromptu & require only basic to intermediate sleight of hand on the whole: 22 Blows to the Head, Sankey Fooler Doolers vol 3, Daryl Finally with a TT, your repertoire of impromptu magic increases a huge amount. I recommend the Gary Darwin dvd set. Just have one TT in every jacket and you will always be able to use one impromptu because you'll always have one with you! (Except for those of you in very hot climates who wouldn't go out with a jacket! Applies for about 2 weeks of the year to those of us in the UK only!!) Good luck!
