Just saw the Charlie and the Chocolate preview at the movies.
Very 60s and Psychodelic. I know Tim Burton directs (and I love him--especially his weirdness) but it looked very dorky. We'll see. Ellen http://chocolatefactorymovie.warnerbros.com/# |

I always loved Gene Wilder in the roll. Depp looks like a cross between jack skelington and the malcolm McDowell character in Clockwork orange. (if you've not seen it, lets just say it is not for kids).
I hope the movie is good, but just in case...We have the VHS tape for our daughter. She loves to watch it.

Cliffg37, Couldn't agree more...re-makes always have a hard time beating the original ...(Italian Job?)
Another of my favourites is Buggsy Malone ...with all the kids as adults( Jodie Foster, Scott Baio...Alan Parker Director). Howard |

From what I've read, this movie is NOT a remake. This movie is taking Roald Dahl's book and starting from there, not the Gene Wilder film.
Either way, the preview doesn't look the greatest but I hope the movie will turn out all right. |

I have to confess, when we saw the trailer before Lemony Snicket we were entranced. I didn't like the idea of a new Willy Wonka movie (I used to live in Hershey, PA!), but the combination of Tim Burton directing and Johnny Depp playing the lead looks very promising. Tim Burton did a fine job on James and the Giant Peach (also by Roald Dahl), and he directed Johnny Depp to good effect in Edward Scissorhands, so let's hope for the best.
My wife and I did like the look of the trailer. Glad to see kid's films getting darker again (Lemony Snicket is great fun). Yours, Paul |

After "Pirates of the carribien" and "Finding Neverland", if Depp pulls off this role he'll be 3 for 3! But talk about a coveted role!!! I wonder who else was considered?
Everybody wants to beleive.....we just help them along.

The first Willy, was very "dorky." But it was still a classic that can never be replaced. I am excited to see Depp play Wonka however.

Christopher Wakin should have played Willie.
