I'll second that. How's this for a trick: "and now, watch how much suspicion I can draw with one single deck of crazy looking cards...completely the opposite of what you all consider normal."

Not to mention it's pretty nice when they make a deck that shows so much wear and tear on black edges. In fact, there's another trick in and of itself. The black edges turn white when used three times!

Three responses: stupid marketing ploy, useless, waste of the U.S. Playing Co.'s resources. (IMHO)

They are cool looking!!! Is anybody using green Bicycles???

Green and black Bikes are NOT Ellusionist products, and are much better quality. They are normal looking cards that don't attract attention. Much better alternative.

I also use green backs, but wish someone would sell Tally ho's with realy light blue backs...that would be good!

I use Black tigers every now and again simply because the cards themselves get a good response when introduced, they are nice for mentalism with Cards, esspecialy dark magic.

Anyone knows that will ordinary bicycle deck offer a deck of similar gaffed cards?

I am really interested in those lovely gaffed cards. 56 of different cards. Although ellutionist may not be our favourite magic shop, their video demo is quite good.

Sigh.

It's interesting to see the range of responses here.

I personally spent about 4 months selecting, deselecting and trying to figure out what cards would be put to the best possible use with this deck. I asked numerous people, and finally got it to 56. Some of the cards were no-brainers, and were your 'standard' gaffs, and others were a little more 'out-there'.

Then, half-way through I realized that we had two distinct types of decks. (Better than realizing it too late). You'll notice that all the gaffs are either clubs or spades, so that they can be used with the all white, or the white/red versions of the deck. For those effects that required use of a heart or diamond, we provided those in both formats. This wasn't an easy task at all.

I myself have been able to use every card in a somewhat 'quick' effect. Didn't take much work at all, though granted, you wouldn't want to be showing the 'quick-tricks' to people who have an inkling how magic is done.

The cards are very useful, to those people who are willing to put in the time and effort that creativity demands. It's not easy being creative, some people excel, and others have a hard time.

Those of you out there that think different is bad, I'm sorry. Different is just, different. Nothing more. I don't there is really anything anyone can do to convince you otherwise, because it seems that you've already made up your mind.

Those of you out there that like different. I am sure that you will find a lot of these cards very interesting, and might be able to work them into effects of your own.

I Love the black tiger decks as they realy stand out...these cards grab the attention of people that might not like regular card tricks!
I will buy the gimmicked deck as I am sure I can get use out of it. the pice does seem steep but maybe it is worth it and to a working pro that is chicken feed!

There is the same suspicion with any deck of cards depending on how you handle yourself. As for the wear along the edges of the cards, I myself find no problem with this as long as I can spread that wear throughout the deck. To me the worn edges have a certain charm, that make the deck look old and could add a bit of character to an effect like the Dehydrated Deck. By the way, has anyone developed a method to perfom that effect while standing?

I don't think different is bad, per se. I, being one who does nothing but close-up strolling magic, don't want to deal with especially suspect looking cards. For others, especially those doing mentalism tricks, the different looking cards can be a great boon.

It isn't a knock on the cards...I just don't use gimmicks and I already have to go out of my way to prove that I am using a "straight" deck, and especially unique cards don't help.

I like the black tigers, although I haven't used them in performance yet. I guess I don't want to wear out such a pricey deck. For me, virtually every time I perform Color Monte, I'm suspected of using gimmicked cards. This doesn't stop me, or many others, from performing the effect. If something is not gimmicked, who cares if the accusation is made. Let people check out the goods. In regards to the new gaff deck, well then you wouldn't want those examined, so I guess some ditching or switching is in order. In general I try to steer away from gimmicks and gaffs.

For $30, I rather go spend my dough on something that is more worth the deal than a pack of gimmicked black tigers. Honestly, a gimmicked deck selling for such a high price is OUTRAGEOUS. A decent book will do for it will keep you busy for years and years.

Its a bit harsh - perceived value differs from person to person. I myslef have several black tiger decks (gaffed & ungaffed) and they are real attention getters with my audience. Read the new Black Deck book and therein are ideada for introducing the black deck; switching a gaff black deck in and out as well as tricks and concepts for the new gaff black tiger deck. If these cards were custom made each the price would be considerably higher. All in all, my hat offf to ellusionist for the vision and conviction to bring these decks to us. For those of you who don't like them, that's your perogative too!

They can be useful, but it depends on how often you use the Black Deck.
I don`t use it too often, so I am fine with the regular Bicycle gaffs.

Yep, I went 'green' recently. Visited Ireland for the holiday - nicely appropriate. Even made myself an Invisible Deck in green backs. Did the same for Black Tigers - but don't use them anymore - too expensive to keep replacing (due to edge whitening!) compared to normal bikes which I can pick up at less than £1 a deck from Costco.
