Thanks for the info-- I may have to look that one up. I can't say if it is easier than mine, but I can say I feel mine is pretty easy when compared to all the other T&R's that I have learned. I let a few booklets go on ebay for $8 plus $2 shipping--if you are interested, PM me. The retail is $15. If that price is to much, I can work with ya.

Picked this up from Ebay recently. Hey Lance!
Haven't had much time to play around with it yet, but it doesn't seem nearly as difficult as I was fearing it would be. Actually, the most aggravating aspect of it seems to be coming from my card-tearing skills (or lack thereof). Being my first T/R card effect, I can't seem to tear a straight line to save my life. |

The effect is also on his "Commercial Magic, Vol 1" video. I seem to recall that he also re-published this effect on a later video with a slightly improved handling. I think I swa this subsequent video approx 10 years ago but, if I did, the name of the video escapes me and may even be a figment of my imagination. Anyone out there know of any subsequent video where JC did his 3/4 T&R effect? Mike

Turk,
Yes, I was referring to the Ammar series. As for the publications that JC has done or contributed to: Factory Misprints (packet trick) Super Magic (Paul Harris) 7 Secrets Commercial Magic (Book written by Mike Maxwell) Commercial Magic Video Tapes (now DVD's through Meir Yedid) Multiple Micahel Ammar Easy To Master Tapes (I believe Volumes 4 and 5) Queens Debate Video (through Brad Burt) One Tear At A Time (through Brad Burt also) Most recently: Lecture Notes from MacMillan's Magic Convention (2004) A Lecture DVD from that same MacMillan's Convention (2004) Updated Factory Misprints (2004) Maybe you are thinking of his One Tear At A Time... S.Segel,
Thanks for the info in your post above. Nope! I wasn't thinking of his "One Tear at a Time". I think that what I might have been thinking of is that maybe his video cleans up or improves the original handling that was in his "7 Secrets" booklet. I also seem to recall that his "7 Secrets" booklet had an error or a confusing description of one of the moves in it and that JC cleared that up on his video. Thanks for mentioning his "One Tear at a Time" video. Mike

Jaymz023,
You are welcome. It was a joy and the easiest T/R trick I have ever encountered and easy to use. Michael

This is a great and very easy to do effect. I have adapted the handling slightly, borrowing a few ideas from Hollingworth. Now I can do it with a spectator-signed card and I don't need a dupe in my deck (unless I wanted to iron out the creases at the end).

I still wanna know how this compares to Yves 'ripped and restored' as far as difficulty goes. Some of Yves handling is a bit difficult for me, would this one be any easier?

I can say, since I own Ripped and Restored by Yves, that Re-Attached is far easier to perform. Re-Attached isn't so... bulky..... Fell free to PM with any questions.

It is offered at as a booklet at many magic stores online. It was released as a PDF a while back at magic notes, but I pulled it as I didn't like the idea at the time because of trading--plus I made some updates to the manuscript. I would prefer to make a video, but do not have the means to do that or edit it. If anyone could help out, be sure to let me know.

I do have a contest going to help out with the demo video for Re-Attached. I think we are going to have something soon- If any of you are interested in the contest, just let me know. There are details about it in the pick a card, any card forum.

Lance,
I just wanted to say that you made a good choice when cancelling the downloadable format and making it into a real book instead. In my opinon, that shows that the effect can be worth purchasing and learning - anyone can sell crappy tricks in downloadable format, but its a different thing making it into a real product. As I have pointed out countless of times, downloadable format has its drawbacks and it gets easily traded. I appreciate that you have taken the time to publish Re-attached in book format - that shows ambition and work that can really be appreciated. |
