I am looking for the best option for a single goldfish production. I have been using what I received from Dick Barry, which is an extremely small TT, or actually Finger T. (FT). It has a small hole near the top, which I don't understand what its for. The cork holds in place and all is well. It has worked fair. It has now cracked and I would like to get a new one, but I don't believe I need to pay $20 for a TT- or in this case FT. I have purchased Vernet's FT, and it is bigger than the one I got from Dick Barry. It also doesn't hold the cork in nicely like the smaller one (the hole at the top?) Does anyone know if there is such a thing as Vernet's "Little" FT? Does the hole help keep the cork secure until ready? Thanks.

Check out Kevin James website. He has a routine and gimmicks that keep the fish alive for an extended period.

I do not own the effect from Dick Barry, but I would imagine that the hole is for air to the poor fish. If you have to do an extended wait before performing the effect. You can pull the cork up a little without entirely removing it. Just an guess on my part.

The hole is probably for the cork so you don't get a vaccum popping noise when you remove the cork. there are several gold fish productions on the market pick a few find your favorite.

Thanks everyone- Kevin James' Goldfish I own, and at first I thought it was way too big of a TT to use, but after a performance tonight I made it work. I am happy now. So is the goldfish.

Diamond Jim Tyler in Texas has an awesome goldfish production. When he showed it to me it was in a parlor situation with about 60-80 people but it is actually made for walkaround in that it resets quickly. Great effect and the fish isn't stuck is a small dark place for hours.

Yeah, I bought that a long time ago and the glass (bowl) that it comes with broke the first week. Plus I don't wear a jacket, so I just let that one go...

Farrel is correct. The hole is there so when you remove the cork from the TT, it wont make a popping noise. It doesn't leave suction in it.
Call Denny who runs the Denny Magic shop in Baltimore. Tell him your looking for a TT to use in a goldfish production. He will talk to you and set you up with a TT right over the phone that's good for producing a gold fish. Or just ask him for one that's the same size as Dick Barry's. He helped me, and would gladly help you. You could use just about any TT tho if you think about it.... |

There was an article in the tricks section of the Linking Ring a few months ago called Aerial Fishing. It's a great idea in my opinion, and it can be modified to suit other patter.

Brenton Keith:
There are two Goldfish Productions that I am aware of. They are Diamond Jim's Little Fishy as one poster mentioned above and Nielsen's Magic Fish Appear by George Murray. Fish Appear uses a fake fish but Little Fishy actually uses a LIVE fish for the effect! Here is some information about both of these Goldfish Productions: Nielsen Magic Fish Appear by George Murray This has amazed everyone we have shown it to. It has amazed them even more when they were shown the secret. Magician's couldn't believe the bowl was not empty. Now you don't even need fish! Effect: Show a small fishbowl full of water. It can be resting on your table or in your hand. Toss any silk handkerchief or other cloth over the bowl. Remove the handkerchief, and one or more live goldfish are seen swimming in the water. You can perform this effect anytime during your act, since the fish remain safe and comfortable in their hiding place for hours if necessary. Included is a special fake fish that floats in the fishbowl in case you do not want to fiddle with the real thing. You also get the bowl, gimmick and instructions. Price: $30.00 Diamond Jim LITTLE FISHY: I have produced a live fish in a bowl of water in my act since 1997. After much persuasion, and feeling that this production is unique from all of the others on the market, I am finally releasing this close-up miracle. The method is practical for the strolling worker who depends on instant reset. This effect makes a grand finale to any routine that you might already perform with an ordinary handkerchief. For your money you get a fishbowl, the secret revolutionary gimmick and instructions with a suggested routine. The fishbowl is 2.5 inches tall and about 2 inches wide. The gimmick takes no pocket space, secures the fish and bowl, and yet allows the fish to breathe fresh air. Leave your audiences stunned for only $29.95
