I can't believe I am breaking one of my rules about always looking for a previous post to post on, but I felt that this routine is worth bringing to the top with a positive review.
After reading many, MANY reviews and sorting through those I thought had a handle on a working routine, and those who didn't, and in based on a conversation with Paul Gross, I made the plunge and invested in Paul Wilson's Predator Wallet back in November. I worked my own patter and handling for his Psycho Killer routine and introduced it into my strolling act on back to back gigs on Dec. 3 and 4th. The reaction I got with this routine will make it one of my top 2 purchases for 2004. I apparently have gotten one of the newer models off the line. To answer some of those concerns from the past....1) Mine is black; 2) Credit cards fit in the slots fine with no forcing (and I am using one actual credit card and my drivers license...felt no need to make color copies to make it thinner) 3) The wallet looks deceptively thin. 4) It looks like a regular wallet, and quite elegant at that. 5) With practice, I have it down that I can pull out the 3 needed bills without looking and not needing a lot of light. Anyone who says there is a lot of fumbling involved apparently hasn't put enough practice in. At this time, I have carried this wallet with me on a daily basis. I had some hesitation at first in not wanting to wear it out, but the Psycho Killer routine is just to powerful not to have with you to perform at a moments notice. I have pulled this out in all kinds of places to perform. If in fact the wallet wears out from carrying it as an everyday wallet, unless Joe Porper or Paul want to cut me a deal, I would have no hesitation in paying full price for a whole 'nother wallet. I have quite a few clients who book me for repeat gigs and have seen me perform before. This routine they claim as one of the best they have seen me do yet, and pretty much guranteed another show for them. Highly recommended. |

Limiting yourself to Psycho Killer would be a tragedy. There are so many mind boggling routines that are even cleaner than Killer with this wallet. The beauty and impact of the routine is that it has a kicker at the end. Once that shock subsides logical and intelligent people can work out Psycho Killer easily. It is a UTILITY prop. Use it for other routines.

I am also one who LOVES The Predator. In fact, I purchased an extra one so that if it wears out years from now, I won't have to worry that they're out of production. I hate becoming attached to a routine only to find out that the required props are impossible to find. Even if some company (I won't name names) decides to offer cheap knock-offs, the quality of Joe Porper's products is very hard to beat; so I don't mind shelling out the extra dough.
I use it exclusively for the Psycho Killer routine. I agree that one could use this utility prop for other routines, but I think that ALWAYS having it set up for Psycho Killer outweighs adding thickness to the wallet or spending time switching things in and out of the wallet. I've gotten to the point where I can focus on the audience while taking the bills out--almost on autopilot--and I don't want the added worry or hesitation associated with starting Psycho Killer only to find out that I forgot to change the set up. I've gotten very strong reactions from this one routine. I don't leave home without The Predator. |

Incidentally, I have set up the Predator with both Psycho Killer and Heirloom simutaneously. I was doing it at first out of sheer curiosity, but was quite amazed at how Heirloom did not add any thickness to the wallet whatsoever. Now I have both on me to perform at a moments notice.
Also...when I was using the Psycho Killer routine during a strolling gig, I inevitably had a few people asking if I could do it again. My answer was that while that was an old scam I use to use in college to guess someone's card, I also carry with me another way, and proceed with Jim Steinmeyer's Thinnest Deck of Cards. It was the perfect addition to those wanting to see me guess a card they were thinking of again. |

When ordering how do you know if you're getting the newer model or one that's been on a dealer sheelve for 2 years? Is there anything you could ask that would answer this before ordering that you can think of?
Thanks in advance, Steve |

Like Bonnie Raitt said, "I miss Little Feat more than I miss being 8 years old." Thanks for the concerts + recordings, Lowell, Richie, and Paul!

I asked Paul Gross at Hocus Pocus and he told me they were from the new batch and had absolutely no issue with the credit card slots.
Incidentally, as far as I know, you can only get the Predator from Hocus Pocus or Paul Wilson directly. Michael |

Great review Michael!
I have a predator wallet and Love it! I am deffinatly considering getting a back up incase this one wears out (but I don't see that happening for a long time!) and you should see the state of Paul Wilsons wallet!!! it looks VERY used and is from his first edition, for me it adds to the believability that it is a real wallet. A top trick and I highly reccomend it. Steve Dela |
