I was playing around with half dollars trying to come up with a new coin routine, and I stumbled upon a move that
I have not seen performed yet.. I produce 3 coins one at a time, and vanish the coins one at a time.. on the vanish of the 2nd of the 3 coins, I have one coin at each of the the fingertips of each hand.. I slap the coins together to make a clink noise, and on the 3rd slap you hear the clink, but only one coin remains held with both hands at the finertips .. If it has been done, (which Im sure it has)It is probably called the clink vanish or something of the sort.. let me know if you have heard of this.. PM me for further explanation.. Just curious.. From your description it sounds as if you are clinking two coins together, then smack one into fingerpalm or something and show the final coin at both hand's fingertips.
I personally have not read this before (but don't by any means take that as gospel that it doesn't exist somewhere). I don't think it is too much of a stretch of the imagination if you show two objects at the fingertips, then smack them together and show one, what happened to the 2nd one. You are going to need some novel way to your hands otherwise empty or have the coin appearing somewhere else to kill the heat. The opposite (production of another coin as opposed to a vanish) is a bit easier to get away with because the spectators don't know that another coin exists yet, so producing another coin at the fingertips while you already have one would work. Off hand, some of Gary Kurtz productions come to mind. The thing I'm trying to get at is... if you openly vanish a coin like that, you are going to need something to take the heat off. The spectators KNOW that two coins existed. And will know you just caught one in you hand. After you vanish the coin, you will either need to cleanly show somehow that it is gone, or have it appear somewhere else. That is why you can get away with at the fingertip vanishes with 3 fly - yes your one hand just two coins, now one is gone, but the heat is to some extent taken away (some may argue not enough though) from the dirty hand because the coin "shows up" in the other hand. |

Sorry about the crummy explanation, now that I re-read the post it is pretty vague..
I hold the coins (one in each hand)at the fingertips as you would if you were displaying the coins.. I have one coin in classic palm, I slap the coins together three times, except on the third pass I slap the coin in my right hand against the coin in classic palm.. and it looks as if one coin jumped inside of the other.. anyway, I have been messing around with it and have been trying to find a way to clean it up, I too can see the downsides that you have mentioned above.. Being that the attention is on the remaining coin in the left hand, while displaying it, I thought I could get away with a back clip of one of the coins in RH classic palm, immediately followed by a shuttle pass from left hand to right hand. revealing only one coin in the palm up position of the right hand to the spectator.. I dont know, but it looks really sharp and I was just curious if it was out there somewhere in a routine that already exists.. I would love to find an effective way to use it. Thanks for the input Dan Later Tom

The only part of the routine I was referencing was the move where you slap the coins together and create a sound illusion to go along with the vanish..
is this move in the: 3 fly? Coins Across? Chinese Money Mystery ? That would be great! Let me know when you get a chance Thanks Tom

Sounds like a move found in Jay Sankey's Revolutionary Coin magic. In his routine, he uses 4 coins and the coins is vanished "into" the coin one at a time until one coin is left. He'll then produce the coins "out" of the last coin one at a time.
