Hey friends,
I had to defer this question to those of you who have more than the usual amount of prop making experience. By what means and materials would you suggest I endeavor to make nesting, multiplying Moon Pies? I know its a weird question but it is needful for a program coming up in the new year. Thanks for any and all help! -Ed

Ha!
Thanks Bob. A Moon Pie is a vintage American snack item. Three cookie layers with two slabs of marshmallow stuff, all covered in chocolate or vanilla, etc. It's big and messy and all that! It's also considered true Americana. Try one sometime with an RC cola. You will feel like a southerner in no time at all! -Ed

To create the illusion of a Moon Pie multiplying, all you have to do is put one in your mouth. It will suddenly feel like ten Moon Pies.

I did like RC Cola as a kid.. you could get 16 oz for your dime instead of 12, and have chance to win your dime back by peeling out the cork (yes, cork) from under the cap. "Instant cash winner!" I don't much see them anymore.

Thanks for the ideas and comments. Remember, a Moon Pie a day will keep everything and everyone at least 4 feet away!

You know those European bon bons that come in the cylindrical container? Yo could use those for shells.
Whats the diameter of a moon pie? You could also take some Sheet aluminium, and bend it into a cylinder, that way you could have several nesting shells. Hold it in place with a rivet. I bet brown wrapping paper would pass for chocolate from a distance. Or some good shiny acrylic paint. |

A moon pie is about three or four inches across and about an inch to an inch and a half thick. Being Diabetic I don't keep them around much anymore...

If you are on the road, sometimes the other name for a Moon Pie is "lunch".

You can also get two layer in addition to three now. Take up less space for loading while havin the same front surface area. It's going to be a messy appearing trick unless they are still wrapped. How about an endless box of moon pies. You can get them by the 12 pack brown retail box at Super Wal-mart and I am sure elsewhere. Do kids really remember what these things are? It would go great with appearing or multiplying RC bottles and jokes about any neighboring southern state.
Example: A man walks into a store and orders "an RC and a Moon Pie." The clerk says, "You must be from (fill in neighboring southern state here)." The man says, "Sir, I am offended. Why would you assume that I'm from (neighboring state) just because I ordered an RC and a Moon Pie?" The clerk says, "Because this is a hardware store!" :goof: I may be remembering that from hearing Lewis Grizzard long long ago.

UFO,
Have you thought about the possibilities of Moon Pie in Balloon? OR Moon Pie and an RC from a devils hank Bandana? (I had to put on my boots to think of that one.) Keep scheming! Bob Magic By Sander Bubba Whodini would be right proud of you! Come see us at the Cavalcade of Magic in March at Eureka Springs. (I'm assuming that Lawton, OK is near you. Eureka Springs is in Arkansas near Branson, MO.) |

Hey Bob,
How about a moon pie in bottle (RC, of course!). But if you lose the bottle you still have a moon pie you can take a bite out of! (Bite that, Blaine!)

Michael,
If you break the RC bottle you don't get your deposit back! Now I still put peanuts in a Coke! It's a sign of good culture. (Agri) Bob Blood Kin to Bubba Whodini |

Anyone ever microwave a moon pie? Just unwrap it, put it on a saucer, and nuke it for 8-10 seconds. Add a scoop of ice cream and watch it disappear.
