Hey there guys, just wondering if you guys knew roughly how tall some famous magicians are.

Having gone to a convention it always surprises me that some of them aren't as tall as I imagined (except David Williamson and Tamariz who came out exactly as I thought).

Bit of a weird post but don't you guys ever wonder how tall Vernon and Marlo were?

Penn Jilette is 6 foot 6, but he wears three inch heals on stage. Teller is about 5 foot 9.

I was surprised at the height of David Copperfield He always seemed tall on stage but when I met him he was shorter than me by a good bit maybe 5'8" or so...

Really? I always thought DC was tall...and I've seen him live.

Why does Penn wear Lifts?

DC looks tall proportionately. He's skinny as a rail. Doug Henning was also a very small man. Supposedly Houdini was very short, as well.

I think you will find the majority of celebrities...when you see them live are much smaller that you imagine.

Seth said, "He looks tall."

With reference to what? The problem with TV is that unless you have seen those

whom they are standing next to and know their height, you have no reference.

Particularly with say male singers...they usually have a load of pretty little

girls dancing next to them which gives the apperance of the guy looking tall.

try this for size...

The "I thought they would be taller" phrase is a function of psychology. We create impressions in our minds of people that we hold in high regards. Sometimes this impression includes an exagerrated sense of height. The percieved status of an individual has hown to be a factor when estimating height. Those we hold in regards as authority figures tend to be percieved as taller while those in a lower status than ourselves are percieved shorter. Interesting stuff psychology. Now if I can only get everyone to percieve me as 7' tall I'll go make some bucks in the NBA.

Certainly is Seth...I'm only 5'5" so its good to see I've still a chance with a lot
of the dolly birds..although at nearly 60 years old, I suppose you might ask..

"wouldn't you worry about a heart attack?"

To which I say, "If they are going to have one, they will have one!"

Hey guys,

According to that site Harry Anderson is 6'4" (taller than I thought he was). Right now I'm close to 6'0".

Also, something funny. If you click "Bess Mverson" it says 5'12".

Meeting DC a few times in person I thought he was about 6'2". Just guestimating from meeting folks at conventions....I'm 5'10" so comparing that to Jeff McBride I'd say he was the same, Kevin James 6', Tony Clark 5'5", Darren Romeo 5'5", Shawn Farquar 5'10", Dirk Losander 6'1", Dean Dill 5'7".......and on and on. I suppose there are a few folks here that would know the spec for folks like Vernon or Marlo. Maybe you'll get the answer when say.....Pete Biro reads this topic.
