Hello
I have Michael Ammars Complete Cups and Balls DVD - Volume 1 and 2. I find the teaching brilliant, and the concepts easy to understand! If only they could be grasped as easily!!!! What I would like to know is, are there any other DVDs on the market, avialble in the UK, that show a whole cups and balls routine, then explains it? |

Allow me to jump in and offer the Stevens teach in DVD before Pete does. This is a great resource, it shows you 4 different performers, and their completely different routines; completely explained. The Ammar books and DVD's are great because they give you several moves and sequences and this DVD give you examples of these moves put together into a routine.

Resources that are dedicated to the cups & Balls which I highly recommend are:
* Michael Ammars Complete Cups & Balls * Stevens Magic Emporium Cups & Balls Teach In * Tim Ellis "Runaround Sue" DVD is a real education in showpiece magic. This one is so well performed, that you will want to see it a few times before going to the explanation. The following souorces are not dedicated to C&B, but are very educational: * Tommy Wonder's Visions of Wonder Vol 1 has a true master explaining a true masterpiece, and teaching extrordinary magic. * David Regal "Tricks & More Tricks". He does the Vernon routine with a huge twist. His presentational style will appeal to most people. * IMS Pat Page Video. Pat Page teaches a simple C&B routine which will be very effective. If you are just starting out. Go no further than your Mark Wilsons Complete Course in Magic book. This routine is very good all by itself, and can be modified with ideas from other sources. Enjoy, Mike
Magic is fun!!!

I just found a great routine by one of our own Café members. I'm asking him if I may tell others first...
Your choices in life can be compared to watching a magic trick: You can continue to believe the illusion in front of you, find the intrigue and desire to learn more, or quit paying attention the moment you feel deceived.

The Stevens Magic DVD is great - it should be available from several of the UK's magic retailers (Alakazam, Magicshop.co.uk, etc etc) for around £20- £25.
There's also Carl Andrews' 'Table Hopping Cups and Balls' DVD, which is very good. Richard

Dan Fleshman has his routine on his new dvd set. And of course the
Vernon routine is explained again on the Revelations dvds. Probably a number of others... Tom |

I'm glad Mike mentioned Tommy Wonder's routine, how could I foget that? He has some very interesting thoughts on the final loads. Also, there is one vanish that is absolutely beautiful, no want no fancy moves, the ball just disappears from his hand.

Don't forget David Williamson's routine in his DVD Sleight of Dave.
A lesson in choreographed misdirection. Also very funny. |

There is also Manuel Muerte's two cup routine on his misdirection DVD.
A word of warning, though -- some may find Manuel's style a bit strange, perhaps even "off-putting." Ignore it. Just watch the video. You need to know the things he teaches. So, put up with it. He grows on you. He is a fine magician and a good teacher. And he is very funny in his own way.

He has a slightly "off-beat" sense of humor, yes...
And he does a good cups & balls-routine! Just saw his lecture, very good! Bjørn

If you can, take a look at the third volume of the magic of Rafael Benatar, he explain his routine and it's very good. You can find other good routines from Tommy Wonder (Visions of wonder), another in the Al Schneider's series, and in Glenn Bishop's dvd. There's a interesting video tape in french by Christian Chelman "Gobelets et bagoût" with five or six different routines inclouding one with chop-cup. And, one of the best, the single cup's routine from Larry jennings.
Best regards.
Best is yet to come ¡¡¡
