If anybody from Germany/Austria is online: there is a special called "Der Gedankenleser - Ein Mann Sieht Alles" is now (19.15) on Sat 1. the mentalist is Thorsten Havener.

He was good; (I didn't like everything; I like it more edgy...)
He picked the right spectator for the last card effect.
And the blindfold drive was really good.
Congrats man...

Yes, really not bad.
A little bit more charisma would be fine.

Hi,

It was ok.
I'm not a fan of - blindfold drive - so I didn't like it.
The mind reading at the train station and on train( a lot of edited stuff )and pre-work.

Munger is right, more charisma needed to buy this kind of TV programm.
Anyway, happy to see some mentalism on Tv.

Anybody from Germany can tell us what the show consisted of? Was it only a blindfolded drive? Can somebody clarify the bit he did on the train? Thanks.

Mindreading on the train.
he told people where they want to go.
Told them something about their past.
Told a woman the name of a friend she was thinking of.
As Mark mentioned, edited stuff.
Subliminal techniques.
Some not so great card stuff.
Blinddrive
Something like pk touches with dual reality (not so bad)
I think that's it.
All in all a good show.
sorry for my english Smile but I think you understand

Hi Brainmagos
The bit on the train , basically he asked some girl that was sitting there to concentrate on the name of the station she wanted to get out.
The bit at the train station, was the same but this time he knew that the man he aproached, was going to have his haircut and the name of his hairstylist.
also was a blindfolded drive on a mountain road with snow ,with the classic, two coins on his eyes and all the rest.
Previosly to the blindfolded drive, while been already blindfolded, he asked for the hand of the guest, which was a girl pornostar in germany some years ago if am not wrong because I'm from Spain, and placed her hand on the table then with a knife in his hands he stabbed the table between her fingers.
also there were some card effects. but the three senior men did not react very well, and some stuff in a kind of wallmark with pieces of woods and nails..
and some effects more but my dauhgter didn't let me watch them properly!

if wanna see the photo of this guy :

Thank you Munger and Mark for your information. It's always nice to hear of shows airing overseas in different countries. It sounds though like every country is going to have its own mentalism show sooner or later lol.

I didn’t like the Show. It was a bad copy of Derren Brown’s “Mind Control” and the man was a bad copy of Derren himself, but without charisma. Similar Clothes, similar music and similar visual effects don’t make a good show. Some sequences were exactly copied. For example the three card players. Derren did nearly the same in MC 1. The Table, the lighting, the atmosphere …copied, copied, copied! I think when a Mentalis gets the opportunity to appear in his own TV special, he should try to show his own character and not a poor men’s Derren Brown. Shouldn’t it be one of the highest goals for a mentalist to create an own style? Look at his picture, he is playing Derren Brown. And this isn’t very professional.

Meng..I am with you on that.
Every mentalist has to develop his own style. The effects were O.K. but the presentation was not "him". I think this guy has a lot of potential (hey HE was in this special)BUT I think a different kind of personna/presentation character would feel much more comfortable.
I simply do not believe him what he says (I think I would believe him more for example if he was older, and or spoke in a deeper voice.

Also the selection of "tricks" could be varied...come on the copy is never as good as the original - as Derren!
Anyway...the D.B. virus is near. Do YOU feel the infection?
best,
T

Meng you are right, but it was a beginning I hope.
as I wrote in my first post, the charism was missing and brainman is right wis the voice, sounded not good, too high.
similar clothes?
if I ever have the chance to do a show like this you will see the same clothes again, because this is my everyday style, maybe it´s the same in HIS case.
but I can never copy derren, I have long blond hear Smile looking a little bit like a "guru" lol
and exactly this would be the caracter I would play if I get the chance.

Who wouldn´t copy derren to get a show on german (or austrian) television Smile (no offense munger...)

did anybody hear reactions of people who don´t know derren?
I liked the blindfold drive (as I said earlier), because it entertained me. (i would never do a blindfold thing).

2,49 million people watched the show last evening.
That isn’t very good (7,8 % of all viewers).

The Uri Geller Show (shown two months ago) was the most
seen Program on that evening (15,9% of all viewer watched
the first part of his show and 24,7% watched the second part).

Would the whole class like to know the titles?

Back to topic: Torsten Havener, that´s the name of the guy, is a nice guy... a good magician... but a good mentalist?I don´t know... the problem with Derren Brown stuff or Gerry McCambridge Stuff is that the guys are the real deal not their tricks. And it´s not enough to dress black and look good. Perhaps normal people (the only important ones) believe Torsten, I don´t believe him that he has studied NLP, knows Bodylanguage etc. But we have very seldom Magic/mentalism on German televison; so if it helps to bring more magic to German viewers ( my Buyers)...I think I can accept that!

Some of the titles: Gina Wild Let´s get dirty 1-6 (great dialog).
I asked if she like cardtricks. she said:No! I did four...

Thanks for the titles. lol
When you say he is a good magician, why he is not doing stronger stuff with cards?

Hi!
I think everybody who knows Derren agrees that this show was a terrible rip off.
And I can`t believe that an honoured magician like Jörg Alexander Weber is involved in this as a concultant.

I asked a lot of my non-magi friends and almost everybody found it absolute unbelievable and boring.

And please don`t suspect me being jealous. I love watching TV-Stuff like Brown, McCambridge or Chan Canasta (on tape of course!).
But I hate these cheap copies.
But perhaps when a magician has the chance to get on TV, everything else in unimportant...
