I am new to mentalism but not new to magic. I have seen many tricks that I thought were mind baffling but after watching derren browns latest show I have to say that the tricks he does seem to be humanly impossible. For example how did he make a man fall to the ground without touching him? is this in print anywhere or on video? I would really like to get into mentalism and especially to perform some of derren's tricks. Thanks

Salsa - do you mean they weren't tricks?!!!
Derren described to camera that what he was doing were tricks... Don't be afraid of the T word, Salsa... everything he did was a "trick", as he himself said.

Its no good Salsa, when trying to inject some humour or sarcasm in this part of the board it might be better off remembering the "P" word - Pointless.
Nobody ever gets it.. |

Just my thoughts... Derren Brown: Messiah was a brave programme that was more about Derren wanting to challenge certain beliefs held in society, rather than making declarations about whether psychics exist or don't exist, or whether God exists or doesn't. Derren was not attempting to make fools people (including the "experts" who supported his charlatanism.
The show was an outstanding demonstration of how easy it is (easy if you're Derren Brown!) to alter someone's belief system with just ONE very powerful demonstration. The fact that he admits to everyone he is just an ordinary guy with no special gifts is to his credit. Uri Geller - if you're reading this - isn't it about time you came clean to the world and admit that you're a "magician" or "psychological illusionist" rather than a psychic! (yes... I am still on topic...) |

Sorry, Salsa - no offence intended. Was confusing you with a few people I've met here at the Café who, as Alan Partidge would say, are "mentalists".

Not the whole Geller thing again?! Does it really matter if people think he's a spoon bender? I think not..

HypnoChris - don't mock Geller... he is the only person in the world who is a real psychic.
