I've just been watching "The very best of Jay Sankey" DVDs again, and I decided to make a note of how many times he says the word "BOOM".
He says it 78 times on the 3 volumes. I have seen some of his other DVD's and he says it there as well... If I ever see another of his DVDs I'll be sure to listen out for it. Im sure his next dvd will be entitled "BOOM" just to **** me off!

Could you give an example of how he uses it?

"and the coin appears in your hand, BOOM"
"i've just shown them 3 quick effects, boom boom boom, and I move onto the next table" Those aren't exact quotes, its just an example of the context when he uses the word.

Weird observation, but I guess when the word sticks in your mind you can't help to notice it.
It's at least better than David Blaine's "Look! Look! Look! -e-
...As long as i`m not a world-champion at anything, the great reactions of doin` magic will do just fine.....

Hey, didn't David Blaine use a BOOM to levitate? This is getting eerie.

I don't know what I find weider, Sankey saying BOOM 78 times on 3 DVDs or someone actually keeping track of the number of times he says it.

Sankey originally wanted to use the word "BAM!" but Emeril Lagasse copyrighted that one, so Sankey took the second best. I believe there is still a patent pending on the use of the word "BOOM" which Sankey has applied for. By the way Nick23 I never realized how much he says this word and now that you've brought it to my attention I'm sure it will be just as irritating to me as it is to you. At least Sankey's not like one of those people who laughs at everything they say. Have you ever met one of those people? My God...it's excrutiating.

Hmmm... Never noticed that. I thought his favortie word was "O.K." I have noticed he uses that alot, I think you need to go back and check to see if I'm right, O.K.?

He only says Boom during the explainations. Yes, I am sad for counting, but I decided to watch them again, and I've always wondered how many times he said it (it seemed like alot) so I decided to count.
I could give you the complete breakdown if you wanted, but I'm sure you don't really care. I will tell you though the most he says it in any one trick is 12 times during the explaination of "Die hard opener"

I have it on good authority that whenever Sankey performs in a lower-class joint, he say "Boom-Boom" a lot---and that's just the name of his assistant!!. (rim shot)
And, hs uses a microphone boom a lot!!

Bam. Boom. Have Bomb.
I am now the only guy who can congujate a noun! Sankey's material often has an explosive effect on his audiences and several of his effects have made me some serious money working for paying clients, so I have to thank him for thinking in such terms. Lee Darrow, C.H.

Thanks for the review Nick23! If I didn't own the set already, your review would have made me buy it. Thank god for this review forum. Oh no! I used the word review 4 times!

He he he,
maybe you could make up some sort of drinking game out of it. one drink for every boom kinda like what people do during the movie scarface whenever Pacino drops an F-bomb |

Attillio; that's an excellent idea. Then, after watching the entire set (78 drinks later) you and your magician friends could try learning the routines and performing them for eachother! Tape it, and post a link. I can't wait!

If you think Jay says "Boom" a lot... check out his "Boris Pocus" DVD. He must say each effect is "STRONG" about a hundred times. I was sick of hearing it by the second trick.

Sankey's favorite word in Boris Pocus is "Boris".
And YES it was a very irritating DVD. The effects were less than mediocre. don't ever mix magic tricks with mentalism and say that its ACID DOWN THE SPECTATORS PANTS. Especially if you are alone in the studio and performing the trick to a camera.
To believe is Magic.
