I have just seen another magi demonstrate a trick with a die inside a black plactic box which, he futher secreted inside a velvet bag and was able to reveal the uppermost number. The way he demonstrated it was very impressive to say the least. He bought it at a magic flee market, so it was not new. He told me it was originated or made by Fred Low in the early 70's who is no longer and he believes it is called a 'Spectral Die'.
Those anyone have this for sale? I would be very interested. He also mentioned although similar to Diecipher 1 or 2 it is not the same. Any info would be helpful Many Thanks Franklin The Paranormalist |

Sounds to me that it's a simple, straightforward effect and even simpler, straightforward method. I have a little plastic black box with THREE dice in three colours. When I was shown the trick, not only did the demonstrator have the right number, but he also had the right colour! believe me, think SIMPLE. It utilises one of the very first principles of mentalism that you ever learned. When you work it out, give yourself a good slap on the forehead!

Thanks Drewmcadam but that's not it, nor is it colour vision or crazy cube. It might work on the same principle as an okito box but I'm not sure. The box is approximatly the same size as used in colour vision but the lid covers the full length of the inner box and the die has no room for movement.
And to add one more point this apparently was a marketed effect in England called the Spectral Die. |
