I don't know if many people have seen the mindfreak dvd but on the extra features there is a clip of when criss performed his version od sub trunk. he uses a flash of light to mask the switch instead of a curtain. and personally I think that switch is the fastest I have seen even compared to the pendragons. I would like to know what everyone else who has seen both the pendragons and criss's with the flash. and tell me what they think
Presentation is 99% of all magic

Hey they're both great, only wish I could move as fast!!!! I would have to watch the DVD again, but for Chris was it a flash of light or pyro????

The footage of him performing the subtrunk, which I saw, was done using a burst of smoke (for a few secs) over the trunk, as opposed to a pyro.
It was quick, but doesn't come close to the pendragons! No one does! IMO! |

When I saw it, he used fire and it was really fast.

I saw it live and he used several pyro cannons in front of the trunk to mask the switch. It was fast, but not as fast as the Pendragons. Explaination: It takes the human eye 4 seconds to recover from a flash of light thus making it a much longer period of time then it seems. On top of that you still have all of the smoke lingering that helps to mask.

Lets say Pendragons have UNBELIVEABLE timeing for theres. It is super fast. With the pyro like MDS said he could be a little bit slower. He could be going at the same speed but to the human eye it feels slower. The one I saw was with sparks failing from the ceiling....It was very cool

Chris Angel does it in a great and fresh new way, but also to me nothing beats the Pendragon...

In one of the myriad of magic shows aired in the UK, one featured Criss walking up a wall horizontally. In that same show, the sub-trunk was shown, and because of the camera angle you could just see the switch--still fast though!

Hey guys;
Gotta throw a wrench in the works. To me it isn't about speed...in the way that everyone is making it seem. It's about the escape. As Johnathan Pendragon once said it's like "One person escapes in...on person escapes out". I don't feel that it requires that 0.25 second of speed. We've been doing it for a few years now, granted, not as fast as Johnathan and charlotte, but have acheived amazing reactions. I have nothing against the Pendragon's, my jaw still drops when I see them. Cuz it's just...so fast. But I think that it is much more than merely the speed of the illusion. Magically yours, Matt |

Right...figure that. There is a rear entrance. Easy in and easy out. I have heard they don't have a back wall...But from a video I have before the illusion they had a camera come from back of the stage towards the audience and you see the truck full back...so Iwas confused. unless the wall falls down at an angle to create a landing pad.

I like the co2.
Where would I found more information of this? I would like to use it for a new illusion that I am working on. Thanks, Mike |

Sorry guys, angel's sub trunk isn't that fast. pendragons and Copperfield's are the fastest I've seen. So angel doens't use a cloth, but honestly it isn't that fast if you really watch it, espeically when he uses the smoke.
