Hello,
After reading Roger Klause's book, I decided to try using very soft rubber TT. Let's say, for the bill switch. But the material (rubber) "grips" a lot and when pulling out my thumb, the bill won't go out but stay "stuck" against the inside of the tip.
Is there any advice or method to "loosen" that adherence of the soft rubber tip.

(I already made a little hole in it in order to let the air come in when I pull my thumb out)
Please, don't tell me that the bill switch goes better without any TT... I just want to know if you, guys, know any method to "break in" the soft rubber TT in order to make it smooth in the inside.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Jonathan.

I wonder the same thing, I'v never been able to do a bill switch....or any other TT routines at all with the stupid soft tip. The only thing I found it useful for is shooting cards - and I don't do that very often.

I have no idea what could possibly be better with using a soft tip bill switch, rather than a hard tip, or no tip at all..

And yes Jonathan, if you get Manuel Muertes Done by Misdirection DVD you'll get to see one routine based on Jarle Leirpoll's ideas for one of the cleanest non TT bill switches ever.

Try putting a smaller TT inside that is rigid?

Buy a plastic TT, they are dirt cheap.

No, I already have a rigid one! The thing is that I'd want to try the use of a soft one (not to put a rigid one inside of it Smile ), just to see if I could use it to my advantage. BUT, I have a problem with its inside adherence.
So: did anyone have the same problem and how did you solve it?
Thanks,
Jonathan.

Everyone I know who performs and teaches the bill switch advises to use a hard TT.
I would say that answers the question "Did anyone have the same problem?" and "How did you solve it?".

1st, Temporary measure. Chalk dust, very fine.

2nd, Coat the inside with rubber based glue and fill the tip up with velvet powder, leave too dry and remove excess powder.

Yes, I thought that too, until I read Roger Klause's book. And I think what he says about TT work deserves some attention. That is why I wondered...

If I'm not mistaken (my research material is all in storage, right now), Michael Ammar, Paul Gertner, Jay Sankey (any others you can think of?) all use a regular Vernet TT. I agree, the soft one (that comes extra in the D'Lite Deluxe package, i.e. 2 x D'Lite, an extra TT & VHS instructional tape) is VERY sticky.

My silk vanish is best with that one, but bill switch? Forget it! The thing I DO like about the "soft" one, is it matches my skin color EXACTLY, and I can point it right at you from just a few feet away, and it CANNOT be detected. I cannot do that with either of my Vernets. They have to be farther away.

Bill switch should be done with a Vernet, or any loose-fitting hard TT, as you need that rhythm, and fluid motion to do it right. The TT never has to be in view! I really like the Jay Sankey version with the four holes in the dollar bill...killer!

Cheers!

Line the inside of the TT (the interior side opposite the tip's "nail") with a strip of scotch tape. The scotch tape will facilitate the bill's sliding in and out of the TT.

Thanks Leo, it's a wonderful idea. I tried and it works perfect just like a hard TT. Now I can use my soft TT.

While we are at the TT subject, can someone give me ideas of what to do or how to fix the big TT please? I have small fingers and only junior size TT fits my thumb. I got a few large TTs I bought years ago by mistake and they are collecting dirt. Nay suggestion please?
Thanks

Put your index finger along with your thumb in it???

Sorry, I'm kidding. I know ways to enlarge TTs but not to shrink them. I think I would try to give them to a friend and get some that fit you. Or keep them to vanish some BIG handkerchiefs.

Sorry, I won't be able to help you as weel as you did for me.
