Okay, so I received some gift certificates from the Magic Warehouse for Christmas and they will just about cover one set of Ortiz DVD's. So here's the question, should I get "Scams & Fantasies" or "At the Card Table" series? Keeping in mind, that eventually I'll get both. If you prefer one over the other or think that one set is best acquired first, then why?

Thanks in advance.

"Keeping in mind, that eventually I'll get both"

If you will get both eventually, then does it really matter which one you get first?????

Bith sets are excellent!

"think that one set is best acquired first, then why?"

Maybe you should start with "At the Card Table" serie, so this way you will see the evolution, as this is his oldest magic DVD serie.

but anyways, these should help:

I personally have all 10 dvds of ortiz and I loved every single one of them. has tons of information. I also have stong magic and am still looking for copies of his gambling scams, etc but it seems hard to find them sigh Smile

in scams there are a couple of stuff that requires gimmicks. In at the card table mainly all are pure sleight of hand (rejoice!!). hence if you wanna up ur skills, then I would recommend at the card table first. Not only will it allow you to see the changes in his style of presentation, but also the evolution of his magic.

however, IMO, in scams, most of the stuff are easy to do. but at the card table, its more challenging stuff, but that's jus my opinion. hope this helps you a bit

anyway, get all his stuff man, he rocks!!

cheerios

You might consider that the older set is more likely to be unavailable if you wait...

I haven't heard of any DVDs going "out of print" but it seems likely it could happen.

You can't go wrong with Mr. Ortiz. You might want to consider whether you are more into gambling themes or others in making your decision. Also you are looking for individual tricks or showpieces that fit together well in forming a routine?

Does this mean that you already have his Cardsharks DVD's? These are actually my personal favorites.

The Cardshark series is also my favorite. Scams and Fantasies is a close second though.

At the card table is still in print, so personally I would buy the book and get the card shark dvds (which is exactly what I'm doing at the moment). Whilst I agree with the above comment that scams and fantasies's effects are easy (don't require false shuffles) a fair few of them need perfect faroing and memorized stack. If you can't do these then you'll probably get more instaneous rewards with the other two. Have a look at a review I did of vol 1. s&f, and if people ask me to then I'll finish reviewing the series.
