Is anybody having problems with their dial-up modem that is composed of Smartlink drivers and technology? I am having trouble updating my Smartlink modem's drivers with Windows XP (with Service Pack 2 already installed on my computer). I've found some websites that address this issue, but it is very confusing to determine what to do.
My computer keeps crashing, and I'm almost certain I have it pinpointed to the modem's drivers being out-of-date. However, when I use Windows XP to update the modem's drivers, it says that they are current and no newer driver is available? Is anybody else having this same contradictory problem? How did you solve it? Thanks! P.S. I did go to http://www.drivershq.com and PAID the $30 to have its "Driver Detective" scan all my computer's drivers to see which ones were out of date and in need of updating. Four or five drivers were out of date for various things on my computer, but the modem driver was considered to be okay by Driver Detective. Go figure! I didn't install or download any of the other drivers the website recommended updating only because the downloads were taking an hour or so, and my computer would crash halfway through the download process (perhaps because of my Smartlink dial-up modem's buggy drivers?). HELP!!!!! |
