Has anyone purchased and used this? It is a whiteboard folder with some nice uses. Strictly a mentalist's utility item. Especially interested in using it as a crib device.

So far these guys have not returned my e-mails regarding this product. Not a great sign.

Same problem here, but I noticed Steve has not read my PM either. He is probably not around right now. I am going to give him time to reply.
Fingers crossed.

It just looks like another impression board...nothing that can't be accomplished with a slip of paper, a pencil and slight of hand.

That is what it looks like to me too. Was not really hoping for a magic bullet - just something utilitarian. For the price though I wanted more info.
Thanks for the observation.

LOL...S.O.H.- free, the slip - 2 cents and the pencil- 5 cents, the effect...priceless ! I absolutely detest gimmicks.

I like a select few (what would I do without a NW?). But, there are very few worth the effort.
I was hoping this would double as a simple dry erase board and crib device as a matter of convenience. 'course, I have a $10 board that works fine right now...

Bkowkabany...
When the "Z-Scan" first came out Steve graciously sent me a copy for my review and thoughts... I don't know if he's still making and selling them as I have not seen it advertised here or anywhere else in quite some time and Steve has not posted on the Café in months... The "Z-Scan" is a simple gimmick in that it's just as its name implies... it's a "Z" type "folder" with dry-erase boards on both sides... that's it... it's made from basically the same materials that Steve's company makes table covers from and is quite durable... it's designed not to be an impression pad, although I presume you could use it that way in some fashion but as a flip-over himber-type gimmick that allows you one-ahead methodology and access to information "inserted" in the gimmick... Overall the "Z" scan is well made, but for me it's quite thick (almost an inch thick)... the routines that come with it are interesting and useable but since the board itself is something that to me does not look natural, has the extra tell-tale thickness and I can accomplish almost the same things with other items I own (for example I have and use the Zingg/Piatt "Theta Portfolio" which looks and works like a real leather covered portfolio) the "Z-Scan" is probably something that will never be used in any of my shows... The one way that I personally could see it being used in one of my performances is if I needed a double-sided dry-erase board set-up... For some the "Z-Scan" will work, but that's also going to depend on what they are going to use it for... it could easily be used as a large switching device for Q&A and information gathering (for example you could use it instead of the home-made portfolio idea for Banachek's "Picture Duplication" routine from the "PSI" series) but because of how unusual it looks the "Z-Scan" may always be suspect... That's the basics... I shared similar information with Steve when I called him to give him my thoughts and review... Hope this helps... Success!!! Tony Blake The Thoughtreader Õ¿Õ¬ |

Hi Tony,
Thank you very much for that thorough review. That is exactly the information for which I was searching. Bruce

Yes, it was for the Q&A billet switching ability similar to Banacheks that I was interested in mostly.
